North Valley’s

Welcome to the North Valleys in Reno. The North Valleys are composed of several small communities just north of Reno, commonly known as Sun Valley, Lemmon Valley, Golden Valley, and Cold Springs. The lifestyle is quiet and relaxed, with open country skies away from city lights and spectacular mountain views. There is ample access to federal BLM land for hiking, mountain biking, ATV or horseback riding. One of the many opportunities for enjoying the outdoors is the Swan Lake Nature Study Area, a nationally recognized bird watching area. The park features several hiking trails along with a 600-foot long boardwalk that takes visitors into the wetlands area.

You’ll find many locals grabbing a bite at the Hometown Cafe before meeting up with friends at Black Rock Bicycles or taking the family to visit the Animal Ark, whose mission is to inspire environmental stewardship through wildlife education.

Housing in the North Valleys is some of the most affordable in the region, and everything from suburban subdivisions to rural homes with acreage and horse properties can be found. Home prices are generally below the Reno/Sparks median price.

This area enjoys easy access to the 395 freeway, and short commuting times to downtown, the University of Nevada campus, and the tech hubs in south Reno. Higher education and employment in the North Valleys includes Truckee Meadows Community College, Desert Research Institute, Amazon and Petco.
